Worn Wheel Inspection Station - Technical Information

The Worn Wheel Inspection Station (WWS-3000) is designed for installation at the beginning of the wheel line. IEM’s Wheel Surface Flaw Detection Station automatically assesses the profile and condition of the incoming wheelsets and produces a scrap vs. true recommendation based on user-identified thresholds. The Station uses a carefully directed illumination array to highlight discontinuities on the wheel surface including but not limited to: spalling, shelling, and tread build-up.

Product

The Surface Flaw Detection Station is also designed to scan the entire circumference of a wheel in minutes, which dramatically reduces the chances of missing a wheel flaw and simultaneously increases productivity.

The station is configurable to be compliant with AAR, ISO and EN standards for types of wheel flaws. Custom software delivers an easy to operate user interface, simple presentation of flaw scan results and the ability to save results for future use.
