Proprietary Iem Approach: IEM’s Broken Wheel Detector (BWD) uses structured
light depth-measurement principles to identify wheel
rim defects as depth anomalies on the wheel rim
surface.
Inspects Wheel Rims: Non-contact surfaces, such as the wheel rim, need a
system that can inspect it for damage and flaws,
unlike traditional WILD systems.
Captures Full Wheel Rotation: The BWD’s design using extensive laser lines is
sufficient to capture at least one complete
rotation of each passing train wheel.
Helps Prevent Derailments: One of the most common causes of train
derailments is a broken wheel; the BWD system
helps prevent material damage and maintain
operator safety.
