Product Overview
Most inspections of brake blocks, brake pads, and
brake disks are strictly Go/NoGo - the designated
component either passes or fails. Any signs of wear,
especially in passenger operations, usually results in
the replacement of the brake block or brake disk.
Premature condemnation of serviceable brake
pads results in the loss of tens of millions of dollars
annually.
IEM’s BPMS (Brake Pad Measurement System)
Model 2000 is a wayside system that uses
machine vision to automatically measure the
thickness of brake pads for tread brakes for
transit rail. The BPMS Model 2050 is an
under-car system that inspects and
measures disk brakes and cheek brakes for
freight operations.
