IEM has designed, built, tested, and deployed systems making use of NDI technologies in several areas. Our EMAT (Electromagnetic Acoustic Transduction) systems probe metal components for flaws, cracks, or other hidden flaws or features without any damage to the material, and no need for couplant gels as required for many ultrasonic inspection systems. Infrared systems can detect the excess heat of wear, of electrical load, of damaged bearings, and so on when such issues are invisible to human examination; they can also note the absence of expected heat (a brake that is not engaging, a dead circuit, etc.). Acoustic signal analysis can be used to detect, locate, and identify flaws in bearings or other mechanical systems, often from a significant distance from the target system. IEM can tailor such systems to any specific measurement or diagnostic need.
