Robotics represents one of the major areas of technological innovation and growth for the 21st century. IEM is not new to this field, having developed its first robotic application, an autonomous cart for detecting flaws in railroad tracks, in the late 1990s. Current work in this field focuses on development of a Transportation Autonomous Device that provides multi-functional capability in a wide range of applications including, but not limited to:
- Autonomous performance of vehicle inspection tasks
- Security monitoring
- HazMat response
- Worker assistance
